Cadence

Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 September 2026

Cadence does not collect any personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third‑party software development kit of any kind inside the app. There is no account to create and no server of ours for your information to be sent to.

That is the whole policy in a sentence. The rest of this page explains what happens to the information the app does handle, and who else is involved.

What stays on your device

Everything you make in Cadence lives on your device: your decks, your cards, any pictures or audio you attach to them, your review history, and your settings. None of it is transmitted to us, because we operate no servers and have no way to receive it.

iCloud sync

If you use Cadence on more than one device, it can keep them in step through your own iCloud account, using Apple’s CloudKit private database. Your data goes to your Apple account, not to us. We cannot read it, and we cannot tell whether you have turned sync on. Apple’s handling of that data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Sync is optional. Cadence works completely offline with no account.

Camera, photos and microphone

Cadence asks for the camera when you photograph a page of notes or scan text, and for the microphone when you record audio onto a card. Both are processed entirely on your device — text recognition and any on‑device card generation happen locally, using Apple’s frameworks, with nothing uploaded anywhere. Pictures and recordings are stored with your cards.

You can decline either permission and the rest of the app carries on working.

Payments

Subscriptions and the one‑off Lifetime purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. Cadence uses Apple’s StoreKit directly, with no payment or subscription‑management service in between. We never see your payment details — not your card, not your name, not your billing address. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase is currently valid.

Apple’s handling of your purchase is covered by their privacy policy, linked above.

Crash and performance reports

Cadence uses Apple’s MetricKit, which may send crash and performance diagnostics to Apple if you have opted in to sharing analytics with Apple in your device settings. These reports go to Apple, not to us. There is no crash‑reporting service in the app.

What we do not do

Children

Cadence is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. There is no messaging, no sharing, no user profiles and no content from other users.

Your data, and getting it out

Since we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to show you, correct, or delete. Your own copy is yours to manage: Cadence can export your cards at any time, including after a subscription lapses, and deleting the app removes its local data from your device. Data you have synced to iCloud is managed in your device’s iCloud settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date. If a future version of Cadence ever collected anything at all, that change would be announced in the app before it happened — not buried in a document like this one.
